Final Respite

This is Yanaka Cemetery in Tokyo, home to over 7,000 grave sites.

Japan - cemetery 2

The cemetery was established in 1872, but the grounds were once part of the much older Buddhist Tennō-ji Temple.

Japan - cemetery 3

A peaceful bastion for both the dead and the living, Yanaka is an isolated corner hidden beneath the ceaseless clamor of the surrounding city.

Stayed in a hostel just to the right of above photograph near Kōenji Station.  I was surprised the normally very busy walkway was almost completely empty the morning I took this shot.

I recently had the opportunity to visit Japan. An amazing country populated with some of the most kind and generous people I’ve ever met.

And the Nigiri! I’ll forever be spoiled, as I don’t think I’ll ever taste Nigiri as good as it was in Tokyo.

I plan on adding more photographs soon (still fighting jet lag), and I look forward to sharing my travel experiences, illuminating the diverse and eclectic global community we happen to be a part of.

We are more connected than we know!
